What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites download to your device — computer, tablet, or mobile phone — during browsing. If your browser settings allow it, individual websites may place their own cookies on your device, which are later stored on its hard drive.

Cookies often contain a unique identifier that enables websites to recognize user preferences and other information when you revisit the same site.

General Information About Cookies

The Function of Cookies

A cookie is a small data unit — an alphanumeric information package of variable content — that the server of the website you visit sends to your device. This data is stored in your browser and can later be read back by the same server. Other websites cannot access it, only the one that originally placed it.

Cookies provide information about how visitors use a particular website. They can serve various purposes, such as measuring website traffic or improving the browsing experience by remembering previously visited pages.

Cookies do not contain personal data that would allow anyone to contact you directly by email, telephone, or post. They alone are not suitable for identifying the user; they only serve to recognize the device used. If you do not delete them and later revisit the same website, it may “remember” your previous settings through the use of cookies.

If you do not wish to allow the use of cookies, you can configure your browser to alert you before cookies are placed, or you can disable them entirely. You may also delete stored cookies at any time in your browser settings.

How Can You Control the Use of Cookies?

When you visit our Website, cookies are placed on the device you use (computer, laptop, phone, or tablet). You are informed about this in a pop-up window when you begin browsing the Website and the homepage loads.

If we use cookies for purposes other than those necessary for the operation and convenient use of the Website, we will request your consent through the pop-up window. In this window, you can give or modify your consent to different types of data collection at any time.

You can access your cookie settings in your browser at any time to adjust your data collection preferences.

Within these settings, you may choose to disable or delete cookies. However, please note that without cookies, certain functions may not be available or some services may not operate properly, which may affect your browsing experience.

Types of Cookies

Cookies may differ based on their functions. Below, we describe these categories in detail to provide transparency regarding the types of cookies we use and their specific purposes.

Functional Cookies

These cookies are essential for the operation of the website and ensure its basic functions, such as secure browsing, maintaining login sessions, or enabling navigation. Without them, the site would not function properly; therefore, their use does not require specific consent.

They do not collect data for marketing or analytical purposes and are managed exclusively by the website operator. Essential cookies may be either session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which retain your settings for a specified period of time.

Session Cookies

Session cookies are temporarily stored on the user’s device and remain active only for the duration of the browsing session. They are automatically deleted once the browser is closed.

These cookies enable the website to remember, for example, which pages the user has visited, what data has been entered, or the content of completed forms. They are often essential for the proper functioning of the website, such as maintaining a secure login process.

In some cases, session cookies may also serve convenience or analytical purposes, such as collecting statistical data on user behavior — in which case, your consent may be required.

Statistical Cookies

Statistical cookies measure the performance of the website. They help improve the website and enhance the user experience by collecting data on how the site is used. These cookies allow the Controller to obtain more detailed information about website usage during browsing.

Since statistical cookies are not essential for the operation of the website, their use requires your consent. They are applied and data is processed through them only if you have given such consent.

Marketing Cookies and Third-Party Cookies

Marketing cookies are used to display advertisements that are relevant to you and tailored to your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times an advertisement appears and to help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.

Our advertising cookies are part of the Facebook and Google Ads platforms, which enable personalized advertisements and allow interactions with social media platforms.

Third-party advertising cookies remain active for varying durations. Some of these cookies do not expire automatically but can be deleted from your browser history at any time before their expiration date.

Marketing cookies are processed solely on the basis of your consent.

Third-party cookies do not originate from the Controller or the server hosting the Website. These cookies are stored on your computer, laptop, mobile phone, or tablet during your visit to the site, as described below.

Facebook Cookies and Pixel

Similar to the Google cookies mentioned above, Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. (Facebook – 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland) also provides online marketing services through the use of cookies and so-called pixels.

The Facebook Pixel is a code that allows reports to be generated about browsing activity on the website. Based on this information, user groups can be created, and the website owner receives detailed analytical data about how visitors use the website.

Using the Facebook Pixel, the website can display personalized offers and advertisements to its visitors on the Facebook platform.

The above-mentioned data processors provide online marketing services using cookies and so-called pixels. Through their services, these processors have access to data collected during browsing activities.

The retention period of the data collected in this way may vary: the shortest period lasts until the browser is closed, while the longest may be up to 14 months. These cookies are stored on the device you use for browsing, and you have the option to delete them. Further information on this can be found in the links provided in Section 3.3 of this Policy.

During data collection via pixels, no information is stored in your browser. The processors may also use the data collected by cookies for the purpose of delivering targeted advertisements to users.

In doing so, the service providers determine the user’s interests based on browsing patterns by linking the data collected through cookies and pixels with the browser identifier or the IP address of the device used for browsing. Targeted advertisements are then delivered to the relevant device accordingly.

These types of cookies operate only with your explicit consent.

Rights of Data Subjects

Right to Information and Access

The Controller always strives to provide information regarding the processing of personal data to data subjects in a concise, transparent, intelligible, and easily accessible form, using clear and plain language.

The Controller processes your personal data in connection with the existing legal relationship. You have the right to request information from the Controller regarding the processing of your personal data.

Upon your request, the Controller will provide the following information concerning the processing of your personal data:

  1. the purposes of data processing;
  2. the categories of personal data concerned;
  3. the recipients or categories of recipients to whom the personal data have been or will be disclosed;
  4. the planned duration of storage of the personal data, or, if this is not possible, the criteria used to determine that period;
  5. your right to request rectification, erasure, or restriction of processing of your personal data, as well as your right to object to such processing;
  6. your right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority;
  7. information about the source of the personal data, if the data were not collected directly from you; and
  8. the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling, if applicable, as well as meaningful information about the logic involved and the significance and potential consequences of such processing for you.

Right to Rectification

You have the right to request the Controller to rectify any inaccurate personal data concerning you or to complete any incomplete personal data without undue delay.

Your right to rectification does not extend to the alteration of data recorded by camera footage; however, it does include the correction of any record or protocol related to the viewing or release of such footage if it contains inaccurate or incomplete personal data.

Right to Restriction of Processing

The Controller shall restrict the processing of personal data in the following cases:

  1. you contest the accuracy of the personal data;
  2. the processing is unlawful, and you oppose the erasure of the personal data;
  3. the Controller no longer needs the personal data for the purposes of processing, but you require the data for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims; or
  4. you object to the processing on grounds relating to your particular situation.

Where processing has been restricted, such personal data shall, with the exception of storage, only be processed with your consent or for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims, or for the protection of the rights of another person, or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or of a Member State.

The Controller shall inform you before lifting any restriction on data processing.

Right to Data Portability

The data subject has the right to receive the personal data concerning them, which they have provided to the Controller, in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and has the right to transmit those data to another controller without hindrance from the Controller to whom the personal data have been provided, where:

  1. the processing is based on consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) or Article 9(2)(a) of the GDPR, or on a contract pursuant to Article 6(1)(b); and
  2. the processing is carried out by automated means.

In exercising the right to data portability as described above, the data subject also has the right — where technically feasible — to request that the personal data be transmitted directly from one controller to another.

Right to Object to the Processing of Personal Data

You have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data if the legal basis for the processing is Article 6(1)(e) or (f) of the GDPR and the processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the Controller or by a third party.

In such a case, the Controller shall no longer process the personal data unless it demonstrates compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights, and freedoms, or the processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims.

Remedies

Enforcement of Rights with the Controller

The Controller shall examine the data subject’s request as soon as possible, but no later than within 30 (thirty) days from the date of its submission, make a decision on its merits, and inform the applicant of the decision in writing.

Enforcement of Rights Before a Supervisory Authority

Data subjects may exercise their rights of enforcement — even in the event of a rejected request — before a court and may also lodge a complaint with the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH):

Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság
Address: 1055 Budapest, Falk Miksa utca 9–11.
Postal address: 1363 Budapest, P.O. Box 9
Telephone: +36 1 391 1400
Fax: +36 1 391 1410
E-mail: ugyfelszolgalat@naih.hu
Website: http://www.naih.hu/

If the data subject chooses to pursue legal action, the proceedings may be initiated — at the data subject’s discretion — before the competent court based on the data subject’s place of residence or place of stay, as the adjudication of such cases falls within the jurisdiction of the regional court.
